Addiction seeks its own path. And every now and then, addicts find comfort and support in faith. But addiction also searches for the meaning of it all. Why am I here? Why am I suffering? Is there redemption from my suffering? That is why the topics of addiction and faith have more overlaps than you might think.
In this project, people with many years of experience of addiction have taken a Grimm’s fairy tale as a model: THE GIRL WITHOUT HANDS. Texts written by the participants about their own challenges in life flow into the production, around or in the story. Fairy tales usually contain cruel images, but also often provide comfort and inspiration when it comes to mastering one’s life or getting it back under control. The production thematises similarities and differences between the text and real life.
